Brand Package
The client
Kūlanihākoʻi High School is a brand new school that recently opened in Kihei, HI (Maui). It was a greatly anticipated opening and presented an exciting opportunity for a full branding package.
The process
This project was unique in that it had a specific, pre-defined set of requirements - the school mascot being a manta ray, school colors already established (black and silver), and the desire to honor Hawaiian heritage in the graphic style. So we started by researching those cultural elements that could be incorporated into the design (the client suggested specifically Polynesian tattoo styles). After the research phase, the work began on creating a custom manta ray shape composed of Polynesian tattoo-styled shapes.
Ultimately, our goal was to create something that would be timeless and evoke a great sense of school pride for many years to come.
The results
Kūlanihākoʻi High School now has a branding package that encourages school spirit and identifies the school as an exciting new addition to the community in Kihei, HI.
